I believe this picture says it all... The mouse owns your very soul, and everything you love and cherish.
All joking aside though, for those of you who've been living under a rock for the passed couple of days (or as we like to call it "having a life") DISNEY (c) Has just bought Lucasfilm Ltd. for the massive sum of 4.05 billion dollars. And what do they plan now that they have one of the largest special effects companies in all of film making, what's on their agenda? That's right. Disney is planning a sequel series to the original Star Wars movies. They have stated that episode 7 will be in the works, and released in the year 2015.
Now... let me say one thing. I love Star Wars. You could say I'm sort of a "geek when it comes to these sort of things. I also am a massive fan of Disney. I'm Floridian, so I'm obligated to like Disney. But... This just seems not right for soooo many reasons. One of the things that was mentioned about when it comes to This buyout is not only the movies, but the Star Wars Television show "Star Wars: The Clone Wars". They stated quite clearly, yet not directly, that they want to pull the show from Cartoon Network, and take it over to Disney XD. Let me just say, that this is by far the show Disney should avoid the least. Yes, it's Star Wars, but I find the show itself to be terrible. Please bring back the creator of Symbyonic Titan to make the Clone Wars series as it was Pre-episode 3. This seems like just another way to bring in a franchise that makes a lot of money, so they can buy more franchises, to make a lot more money. It's a cyclical thing. Star Wars, I hate to say, has been on the decline in recent years due to the lack of effort on their part to make something good. Is it really worth the risk Disney? Don't you have enough that you don't have to beat a dead tauntaun just to see if theres anything left in it? (See right there? I made a smart joke. XD) My answer, no. But honestly, I could see this coming anyhow. I mean... Star Tours was just revamped, and released this passed spring, which I was able to go to during Star Wars Weekends, and it was good. A nice re-imagining of the classic ride. With Disney putting so much effort to improve on their Star Wars venue, I figured something was up. But to make such a brash decision as making a new trilogy entirely, just seems like a bad idea.
My final thoughts on the matter is this. I don't mind that they bought up Lucasfilm, I do mind that they are using it just for there own money grabbing agenda. If being part of Disney means that when I roam Disney Hollywood Studios I see more slave girl Leia outfits cute female workers around the park, that'll be A-ok with me. Am I going to go see the new Star Wars when it comes out? Yes. I'm still a fan, and I'm still going to go, whether or not it be disappointing.
Anyhow... Let me know what you think on the matter. I hope you enjoy this extra little doodle I did late last night.
Mickey Mouse (c) Disney Lucasfilm LTD and Star Wars ALSO (c) Disney
I've seen some people believe this'll be the end of the world, but I know others (especially a good friend of mine that's owns a comic store) believe Disney won't ruin the Star Wars franchise, because they seem to do okay with the likes of Marvel and some others(?). Personally I don't have a problem with it. As long as its decent, I'm cool with it
Heard about that via , recently For some time now, I've been referencing any copyrights to characters as belonging to the "Disney Empire"...guess I was a bit psychic in that respect, wot?
Phantom Menace was, for me, redeemed only by the introduction of duel-bladed lightsabres. Attack of the Clones, no redemption at all. Revenge of the Sith was spoiled because you knew who would live and who would die. Personally I think that Dooku vs Mace Windu would have been a lot better, not only because it would give two good characters an excuse to cut loose; a Sith Lord and a Jedi Master battling furiously and you know that BOTH have to go, but how and when. Anakin was better with the air of mystique; in the prequels he was a whiny brat who went crying to Darth Sidious whenever he didn't get what he wanted. I did hope a few female Jedi would make it into the main picture, but besides a few in Geonosis that lasted a handful of seconds, no such luck. The Force seems restricted to male humans only
IF they capture the emotional scene of Vector Prime, fair-do's to them. But I personally doubt it
Besides, some of the battles I've read of are extremely gory. The Jedi Eryl Besa was killed by a razor bug to the face. Numa Rar took voxyn acid through her eyes. Star Destroyers slugging it out in space against Mon Cal Star Cruisers (I'm a bigger fan than you, I think ) all looks very impersonal and will likely be what they stick to, if anything, but a lot of the fights are too bloody. Even WITH lightsabre cauterisation taken into account
